CYPRECO Mini Documentaries 2021

The global pandemic that struck the world in 2020 ruined almost everyone’s plans well into 2021. Organizations such as CYPRECO had no other choice but to cancel all live performances that where planned for many months, even years prior, to comply with the health and safety protocols. Since physical contact has been limited, we found a way to continue our folk arts activities FY20 and FY21 by televising them within the highly broadcasts of AKTINA TV, a non-profit and commercial-free television show airing on New York’s public station WNYE Channel 25 which covers the entire Tri-state area of New York. The programs televised FY21 included four different unique mini-documentaries highlighting the culture of Cyprus, some of which were presented several years prior before a live audience at the Stathakion Cultural Center in Astoria, New York.  Considering AKTINA TV's huge audience of over 950,000 in the Tri-state area of New York, we felt that it was very beneficial to reach these viewers and share with them these amazing documentaries.  The positive feedback we have received is exceptional.

OVERWHELMING AUDIENCE RESPONSE

FOR CYPRECO'S TELEVISED PRESENTATION OF THE MINI-DOCUMENTARY

"THE ANCIENT CHURCH AND MONASTERY OF AGIOS NIKOLAOS"

FY20 Cypreco Agios Nikolaos June 21 2020With the coming of the COVID-19 crisis earlier this year, life has dramatically changed for all. As we have announced, the safety, health and well-being of our audience is our number one priority.  For this reason we have cancelled the presentation of the Agios Nikolaos mini-documentary before a live audience which was scheduled on June 4, 2020 at the Stathakion Cultural Center in Astoria, New York and instead featured it on television few weeks later.

In view of the new way of life when all of us have to comply with social distancing, CYPRECO quickly adjusted and worked towards alternative ways to make possible the presentation of this documentary. In this respect, and as advertised, on Sunday, June 21, 2020, CYPRECO, offered a televised presenation of the above unique mini-documentary within the weekly broadcast of the highly rated television show, AKTINA TV airing on WNYE Channel 25. Our mini-documentary successfully reached AKTINA TV’s vast established viewership in the Metropolitan area of New York comprised by Greek, Greek Cypriot Americans and New Yorkers of all other ethnic groups and backgrounds.

Over 850,000 viewers had the opportunity in the comfort of their home, to watch the documentary and we would like to thank all for their overwhelming response and for taking the time to reach out to us to provide their positive feedback. Furthermore, we are tremendously moved and greatly thankful to those who further expressed their appreciation for this televised presentation through their voluntary contributions.
