On Friday, May 27, 2016, CYPRECO presented with outstanding success a new folk arts program which revived the craft of producing the famous stamped kerchiefs of Cyprus and also featured the last remaining kerchief maker on the island.  The event which was under the auspices of the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York was offered with free admission as a public service at the Stathakion Cultural Center in Astoria, New York before a full house of guests comprised by Greek and non-Greek friends of CYPRECO.

A full house of guests enjoyed CYPRECO's very unique folk arts program dedicated to the wines of Cyprus on June 1, 2015 at the Cyprus House in Manhattan in New York who had the opportunity and discover the centuries old traditional of wine making in Cyprus.
 


CYPRECO REVIVED THE CENTURIES-OLD TRADITION
OF LACE MAKING IN THE VILLAGE OF LEFKARA

The centuries-old tradition of lace making tradition in the village of Lefkara was revived during a successful folk arts program presented by CYPRECO Of America, Inc., on March 7, 2014 at the Stathakion Cultural Center in Astoria, New York.  The well attended event which was offered with free admission as a public service included guests from the Greek and Greek Cypriot American community, as well as members from the general audience of all ages and it featured the screening of an original documentary which examined and highlighted the historical development of this craft, the unique designs and techniques.


CYPRECO REVIVED THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF THE NEOLITHIC SETTLEMENT OF KHIROKITIA 
ONE OF THE SIGNIFICANT ANCIENT SITES ON CYPRUS LISTED IN THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LIST

 

On March 8, 2013, CYPRECO of America, Inc., revived the history and culture of the Neolithic settlement of Khirokitia, one of the most important pre-historic sites of Cyprus and of the eastern Mediterranean during a screening of an original documentary by filmmaker Elena Maroulleti at the Stathakion Cultural Center in Astoria, NY.  This event was part of CYPRECO's ongoing folk art series which highlight during each new production different aspects of the rich heritage, folklore, culture and history of Cyprus the successful event was attended by Greek and Greek Cypriot Americans and members of the general audience of all ages, including dignitaries and representatives from the Greek and Cypriot governments.



THE SONGS OF THE LEGENDARY SONGWRITER/SINGER MANOLIS HIOTIS REVIVED

 BEFORE A FULL HOUSE OF GUESTS BY FANTASIA MUSIC

 

On Friday, November 9, 2012 CYPRECO of America, Inc., presented with great success at the Stathakion Cultural Center in Astoria, New York its concert/tribute to Manolis Hiotis, the legendary bouzouki virtuoso, songwriter and singer of rembetika (Greek blues) and Laika (popular folk) songs who wrote his own unique history in Greek music during the last century.

  


MEMORABLE MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO THE LEGENDARY COMPOSERS OF GREECE

APOSTOLOS KALDARAS AND STAVROS KOUYIOUMTZIS

 

On November 4, 2011, CYPRECO presented yet another sold-out concert at the Stathakion Cultural Center in Astoria, NY., dedicated to Apostolos Kaldaras and Stavros Kouyioumtzis.  Lovers of Greek music practically packed the venue and enjoyed this musical tribute to these two legendary composers/songwriters of Greece presented by the talented musicians Christos Papadopoulos, Leda Maniatakou, Megan Gould, Mathias Kunzli and Spiros Exaras.
